Die EOS 1000D ist eine DSLR-Kamera und wurde am 10. Juni 2008 von Canon angekündigt. In den USA war sie auch als Rebel XS und in Japan als Kiss F bekannt. Die 1000D war nur als Gehäuse erhältlich, verpackt mit einem 18-55 f3,5-5,6-Objektiv oder mit einem Doppelobjektivpaket mit entweder 55-200 mm oder 75-300 mm.
Es verwendet einen 10-Megapixel-CMOS-Sensor, der Fotos im Format 3888 x 2592 in den Formaten JPEG (fein, normal), Raw (.CR2) oder RAW+JPG (fein) erstellen kann. Der Autofokus hat ein 7-Punkt-Design mit einem zentralen Kreuztyp.
